Directions of activities:

Study of genetic diversity of clinical isolates of herpes viruses in various biosubstrates using PCR, sequencing and phylogenetic analysis.

Detailed characteristics of the genotypic and genovariant structures of EBV, HHV6A, HHV6B in immunocompetent and immunocompromised individuals. Development of intraspecific classification of herpes viruses based on hypervariable regions of their genome.

Study of the influence of molecular genetic diversity of EBV on clinical and laboratory features of the course of oncological diseases of the nasopharyngeal region.

Evaluation of the contribution of molecular genetic diversity of exogenous and endogenous variants of HHV6B and HHV6A to the clinical picture of the course of multifocal demyelinating lesions of the central nervous system.
Laboratory achievements:
- Over the years of work, the laboratory staff has published more than 270 scientific papers, 1 monograph, received 11 Russian patents for inventions, developed 4 computer programs and 1 database with state registration, received 6 certificates of deposition of full-length research protocols in the international Gene Expression Omnibus database on the NCBI portal, dedicated to the study of the expression of a wide range of genes, the products of which are key participants in the signaling cascades of apoptosis and survival, as well as 165 certificates of deposition of fragments of the Epstein-Barr virus genome and 281 certificates of deposition of fragments of the genome of human herpes viruses 6A and 6B in the international GenBank database, as well as 270 certificates of deposition of fragments of the herpesvirus genome in the domestic VGARus database, 2 know-how have been registered.
- The laboratory staff, together with their colleagues from the Volga Region Research Medical University of the Russian Ministry of Health, became laureates of the Skolkovo innovation projects, the Russian Academy of Sciences OncoBioMed 2016, the scientific and practical event with international participation "University Science Relay 2017", as well as the main national award for the best doctors and scientists of Russia working in the medical field, "Calling 2017" in the nomination "for the creation of a new diagnostic method". The laboratory staff are laureates of the XIV and XV competitions of intellectual property objects for the I.P. Kulibin Nizhny Novgorod Region Prize in the nomination "Best Invention of the Year in Medicine and Pharmaceutics" in 2020 and 2021, as well as winners of the competition of intellectual property objects for the I.P. Kulibin Nizhny Novgorod Region Prize for 2024 in the special nomination "Technologies for Life and Health".
- For their professional work, laboratory staff have been repeatedly awarded with certificates of honor, diplomas, and letters of thanks from the Head of the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing, the Minister of Health of the Russian Federation, the Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, the Government of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, the Minister of Health of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, the Chief State Sanitary Doctor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Nizhny Novgorod Region, the Chief Federal Inspector of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, and the Director of the Institute.
