2nd year students of PMU learned about the connection between oral microbiota and gastrointestinal dysbiosis.

The class took place in February 2025. Senior researcher of the Laboratory of Human Microbiome and Means of Its Correction of the Federal Budgetary Institution of Science NNIIEM named after Academician I.N. Blokhina of Rospotrebnadzor, PhD Vasily Sergeevich Kropotov gave a lecture to 2nd-year students of the Privolzhsky Research Medical University.
During the lecture, the issues of the norm and pathology of the oral microbiota, its species composition were considered, possible causes and consequences of disturbances in the composition and functioning of the oral microbiota and their relationship with dysbiotic conditions of the gastrointestinal tract were described. The problem of the influence of dysbiotic conditions on the homeostasis of the body as a whole was identified and methods for correcting the microbiota were proposed.
Following the lecture, the students received new knowledge in the field of the modern theory of the formation, development and existence of the oral microbiota, learned about the relationship between periodontal pathology and dysbiotic changes in the gastrointestinal tract and possible ways to correct these changes.
