The risk of transmission of the HKU5 coronavirus from animals to humans currently remains low.

According to available information, a group of Chinese scientists have discovered a new line of coronavirus HKU5 in bats with a potential risk of transmission from animals to humans. The study was conducted in a Guangzhou laboratory together with specialists from the Guangzhou branch of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, as well as Wuhan University and the Wuhan Institute of Virology.

Reports of a new coronavirus detected in bats in China are under the control of Rospotrebnadzor. Specialists from the agency's research organizations are studying the new line of coronavirus. Currently, the risk of transmission of the HKU5 coronavirus from animals to humans remains low, but continued monitoring and research is necessary to ensure safety and preparedness for possible future challenges.
